Returning the Traveling Trowel To The Province
On 7th April at the Provincial Grand Lodge of Somerset Annual Meeting, the Lodge of Honour, represented by its Worshipful Master and willing brethren presented the travelling trowel to the RW Provincial Grand Master of the Province of Somerset.
The Lodge of Honour had the task of returning the travelling trowel at the Annual Meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge at The Webbington Hotel and Space, Loxton Nr Axbridge, Somerset. The event was attended by hundreds of brethren.
Annual Meeting Programme
The Programme for the day included the election of Treasurer, Independent Examiner of the accounts, reappointment of VW Bro. Benjamin GW Batley PGSwdB as Deputy Provincial Grand Master and W Bro Richard J Winter PJGD as Assistant Provincial Grand Master. The province also appointed W. Bro Anthony Raymond Guthrie PAGStB as Assistant Provincial Grand master.
A large part of the day was then spent appointing and investing the Provincial Grand Officers fro the ensuing year and conferring Past Provincial Grand Ranks and Promotions. It was certainly a day of celebration and honour to the many who have devoted much time and dedication to the Craft.
Return Presentation of the Travelling Trowel
Members of the Lodge of Honour formed an entourage to support the Worshipful Master who was given the task of leading all the other lodges in returning their respective trowels. The Lodge of Honour No 379 was asked to lead as it was one of the oldest lodges present.
Other lodges also returning trowels were Backwell Lodge No 7964 meeting in Nailsea, Tivoli Lodge No 9417 meeting in WSM, Descensus Aquarium Lodge No 8655 meeting in Taunton and Somerset Tablets Lodge No 9075 meeting in Illminster. After the meeting, our brethren stayed for lunch in the Crook Suite.
Six of our brethren enjoyed the day out, and for three of them, including the Worshipful Master, Secretary and Inner Guard, it was the first time they attended the event. Other members who attended included the IPM, Treasurer and Senior Warden. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the day and all agreed that they would attend again next year.
